Lease a Horse
I have a couple of seasoned horses that have trained my oldest daughter and I hope they will also train my youngest daughter who is five and not quite ready for the lessons these horses have to teach.

Looking for riders who are interested in leasing a horse, possibly for County Fair, who have an interest in showing in Western Pleasure or Horsemanship, English Pleasure or Equitation, or Showmanship.  Also interested in the gaming classes such as Barrels, Pole Bending, and other speed events.

No previous knowledge is needed to ride these horses as they are quiet and comfortable teaching riding.

LEASE TERM
A Lease term will start at the first of the month and run until the end of the month.  Example. - If you are leasing just for fair the term will be from May 1st to July 31st.

I reserve the right to lease a horse to more than one person, pending that they are either not showing at fair or are in a different county.
There are other shows and events that you can participate in off farm.  To the left are Lydia and Lillie waiting their turn at a Speed Show in Dayton.

There are also Horsemanship clinics and combination Pleasure/Game shows in Madrid, Yale and other surronding communities.  I haven't set a fee for these yet.  I am thinking on $10 horse and trailer rental within a 20 mile radius.  In many cases I may have to get a second trailer and driver since our trailer is usually full.  There will probably be a milage charge for shows over 20 miles.
LEASE FEE

I have been thinking about how to price a horse lease program for a while and this is what I have decided.  I decided to have the lease fee connected to what it cost to have a horse.

I will provide the horse, saddle, bridle, blanket and grooming supplies (if needed).  (This is at least a $500 savings.)

You will provide the rider, a helmet and riding boots.

Maintenance Fee- A horse eats about a 1/2 bale a day.  A bale of hay cost $5.00 (this is at the very low end).  Hay cost per horse per day is $2.50, and grain is 0.50.  Total feed costs of $3.00/day/horse x 30 days or $90/month in feed costs.

Also monthly cost of worming at $3/month (figured $9 wormer at every three months) and trimming at $15/month ( I figured $30 to trim every other month or more).

This gives me a monthly Maintenance fee of $108/month
($90+$15+$3= $108)

I figured 1/2 of the Monthly Maintenance Cost, or $54 in the lease.

I also decided to require one lesson a week at the reduced rate of $20 or $80/month.  Lessons will be with myself or Lillie.

The Total Monthly Lease Fee will be $134
(1/2 Maintenance Fee of $54 and lesson fee at $80)

I also require a one-time fee of $35 that includes vaccinations and health certificate (required for fair).
Upon the sad passing of my father we also have a few extra horses.

I would be interested in leasing these horses to qualified individuals for the price of the lessons.  I actually have five horses for this program.  Three that will be in the "For Sale/ Rent to Own" catagory and two in the replacing lesson horses catagory or Lydia's future horses after she graduates from Blue and Nugget.

I would also have a certain amount of work that can be done to work off  a balance owed.  This would include cleaning stalls, gardening, raking the lawn among other things.  If you have questions please call/text me at 507-259-3618 or at my e-mail longhornlivery@yahoo.com
